Tucked away in Vancouver’s Chinatown is a new hit restaurant taking the whole country by storm.

When Tannis Ling, owner of the lauded Chinese brasserie Bao Bei, announced that she would be opening a Japanese-Italian joint with her long-time executive chef Joël Watanabe and souschef Alain Chow, industry observers anticipated an edgy little nightspot with cool snacks. But no one, certainly not the three owners, ever imagined that this charming hideaway would soon become one of the most celebrated new restaurants in Canada.
